Filming The Bicycle Section

On Saturday Jacques & I went to Wollaton to film the sections where Rosa is riding the bicycle. We gathered together around 6 extras which we first individually filmed having a newspaper thrown at them then did the tracking shots when Rosa is riding the bicycle. The individual shots worked out really well, however when we started the cycling parts, it went very wrong. The first problem we had was that Rosa had difficulty actually cycling and throwing the newspapers, and she often went off of the camera. A few times she nearly fell off of the bicycle. Although we'd previously asked her if she could cycle and
she said yes, I think she just had problems getting the newspapers out of the bag and throwing them furiously towards the extras. The car idea, however, worked really well and was smooth in how it moved with Rosa cycling behind. As the cycling idea seemed to fail on several occasions, we have decided to have parts where Rosa is walking instead of cycling as this will be easier for her. These will be two separate occasions on two different streets. Also in the introduction we will have her leaving the house and getting ready for her paper round twice, so the first one will be Rosa getting on the bicycle and cycling down the drive and the second one will be Rosa slinging the bag over her shoulder and walking down the drive.
