Being such an unknown act Kimya Dawson doesnt have any videos to discuss however her genre is probably classed as somewhere between anti folk and indie. Compared to other acts in the genre such as Regina Spektor or Corinne Bailey Rae ( more soul than indie) i think she fits in pretty well for example her lyrics, similarly to the other artists are about everyday happenings or lovey type topics. Another relateable element is like Regina Spektor she usually only records and is seen with one instrument, Regina using a piano and Kimya using a guitar. All these acts have a similar look of casual clothing and natural colours. Kimya does slightly contrtast in that she has a more distinct look with tattoos and piercings but the points are still there.
Its hard to explain how she has changed over time as she only has one album, no videos and minimal live footage but im guessing like all artists she has grown in song writing and matured as a performer. Some generic conventions of her live stuff on Youtube is always a solo stage, just a chair and a guitar to accompany her.
