Possible Bands/Artists

Before settling on Kimya Dawson as our artist, we did some research into other bands/artists. We noticed that all of us portrayed an interest in rock music, however as this was our favorite genre we wanted to choose our second favorite so we would not get bored of listening to the same song over and over again. We finally settled on anti-folk as we liked the conventions of the genre. Anti-folk music is all very experimental and shows a desire to be different from the traditional folk music. Firstly, we showed an interest in Regina Spektor, however all of her most popular songs which we liked the most had an official video created in the past five years so we decided not to choose her. We then decided to research all artists in the genre and found that we all liked Kate Nash, however there were already many attempts of Kate Nash in past students work. After realising that Becy and I both listened to Kimya Dawson, we introduced Jacques to one of her songs, 'The Competition', and found that we all liked the song so decided on this as she has no official music videos meaning we have a clean slate for ideas.
