Make up/Costume idea/Set Design

Make Up:

  • Foundation - creates a flawless, natural beauty.
  • Bronzer - rather than blusher as it creates a more natural tan rather than rosy cheeks.
  • Brown eyeliner - this outlines the eyes but its more soft than black eyeliner
  • Brown mascara - softer than black mascara, creates a feminine look with long eyelashes.
  • Peach lipstick - natural look, autumn colour.

Hair:
  • Beach waves, soft loose curls.
  • Possibly two low hair bunches, might look too childish.
  • Not too fussy on colour, however a more natural blonde or auburn would be better.

Costume:

  • Long flowing skirt, pale auburn colours such as beige or brown.
  • Brogues
  • Ankle socks
  • Thin scarf
  • Slimfit vest with a baggier vest over the top
  • Shrug

Set Design:

  • Our main location is torvill/lambourne drive. This location is a natural design rather than one we need to set up ourselves - its a countryside location with biggish houses.

By having the natural autumn look, we portray Kimya Dawson as quite a gentle nature-friendly character. We wanted to keep it quite simple because we looked at her in live performances, and noticed that she is not one for the extravagant performances and likes to focus on her music more rather than a huge performance.

Throughout the music video, we will be having quite a few costume changes, however she will be in the flowing long skirt and vest tops for the majority of it, especially when she is on her bicycle. The times when she will change costume are:

  • when she works in ASDA - the uniform
  • when she works in an office - blouse and pencil skirt
  • when she's at school - blouse and tie
  • when she dresses up as a princess - princess outfit and fairy wings

The good thing about having natural hair and make up is that it goes with everything. The costume however, we will vary within the video to prevent it from becoming boring and repetitive.
