Artist Research Question 3
Being a relatively small artist with probably only a little budget, Kimya Dawson doesnt really self promote. She has a limited range of merch which is difficult to find and has only basic designs such as doodles or a simple cartoon or a picture of her. The best promotioal advertising she has at the moment is being featured on the sountrack for Juno. Although the film wasnt massive in the box office it did do well and the target audience for that film reflects the target audience for Kimya Dawson so it was a good selling point. By looking at the minimalism of this promo range it does gives us a idea about the character she is; like shes not interested in being the big performers if she has to sell out to the industry.
Looking at her album cover 'Remember That I Love You' is a really basic cover. The type of doodles it features suggests a young fan base, dinosaurs, elephants, invented creatures etc. The fact she herself is a doodle may suggest she is relating to the target audience or she doesnt take herself seriously, either way it shows her personality.
