- Awareness of conventions of layout and page design - When designing the website, we wanted it to look creative yet not too confusing to use so we had to consider this whilst sorting the layout. We've kept it organised by having links at the top of the page (Home, Biography, Gallery and Contact) and then other links underneath (Latest news, Upcoming performances) and images and other small creative things such as a small section promoting Kimya Dawson's album. We wanted the page design to be simple, similar to Kimya Dawson's official website, however we did want a disinctive theme that was consistent throughout the site. To do this, we will be having only around 3 different fonts throughout but vary the font sizes.
- Awareness of the need for variety in fonts and text size - As I said above, we did not want to vary the font too much to keep it neat and simple like Kimya Dawson's official website. We wanted to have a single font for the 'Kimya Dawson' at the top of the page, and then a different one for the subheadings, and links. Then another font for the text under the subheadings and for the captions. We wanted the fonts to be quite quirky and handwriting like, yet not too extravagant as this is unlike Kimya Dawson. Some ideas for fonts were: Kristen ITC and Script Mt Bold, however we have not chosen any specifically yet. We obviously want the more important text in a bigger font size to capture the audiences attention.
- Accurate use of language and register - To suit the genre which is a relaxed sort of style the language will be informal. Being as the target audience is mostly the young/teens a formal approach wouldn't be appropriate as most songs try to relate and talking in a formal manor wouldn't be relatable.
- The appropriate use of ICT for the task set - The appropriate use of IT we will use is the software for iWeb and photoshop.
- Appropriate integration of illustration and text - There's always the website that has too much writing or too many pictures. Going for a minimalist type website we definitely wont cater for the too much writing side but too stop it being too busy with images we will only have few of the album and a pic of her and such and then have a balanced amount of writing to make it in between.
- Framing a shot, using a variety of shot distances as appropriate - Right at the top of our website page is the image on the CD cover (girl on the wall with her guitar). We have used the rule of thirds by having the girl on the right side of the image, on the golden mean. This leaves space for the title which will be on the left and in the sky space.
- Shooting material appropriate to the task set; selecting mise-en-scene including colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting - To suit the genre we thought we'd use quite autumn colours such as browns and creams and all neutrals colours, similar to the wordle example.
- Manipulating photographs as appropriate, including cropping and resizing - For cropping and resizing and such, some images we use for example the artist picture or album cover, they may be too wide or long or the amount of room we want to give and in order to get it right we would crop down the picture, or if it were just too large then we will just re - size it.

Website Design
As we are hoping to achieve the highest marks we possibly can, I am going to compare our website idea with the Level Four band on the marking scheme:
